Pardon this post and the hollow sound its words will have in your head — that’s the echo of an empty apartment, after the last boxes of belongings have been hauled out to the moving fan out front, when you have a last look around your new former home and your footsteps ring louder than they have since the day your broker showed it to you, talked up its bare essentials and its size, and you imagined what your life will be like in this new space.

Now it is as it was, save for some bumps and bruises. But you’ll always have lived there.

As for me, I couldn’t bare to part with any of my stuff, and wasn’t willing to send any of it to storage. So, now that the movers are all done, paid and tipped, you can revisit my accumulation that’s already resting comfortably at:

I’ve done this before, in real life and on the internet — skipping around from guise to guise, apartment to apartment, trying to find a space into which I nestle comfortably. No worries: now I’ve got nowhere else to go, unless the Dan Mooney out west who has the dot com wants to work something out. But maybe not even then, because you have to plant deep roots if you want the redwood to grow.
